MAPUSA: A passenger bus was gutted in fire at Thivim on Wednesday; however, the occupant exited safely from the vehicle.

MAPUSA: A passenger bus was gutted in fire at Thivim on Wednesday; however, the occupant exited safely from the vehicle.  

According to Mapusa Fire station staff, on receiving a call at 5.30 pm that a bus had caught fire at Thivim, they immediately reached at the spot and put out the fire.  

The bus is contracted by the Tata’s for transporting its employees. On Wednesday, the bus was proceeding towards Bicholim from Mapusa and on reaching Madel in Thivim, an occupant informed the driver that there was fire at the rear side of the vehicle. The driver immediately parked the bus by the road side and called the fire station. 

Since the bus was not carrying many workers no casualty was reported. The loss is pegged at Rs 4 lakh.
