PANJIM: Absconding ex-minister Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco is yet to contact his partner Viola and any of his closest friends even after the Supreme Court on Monday dismissed his plea for time to surrender and undergo six month jail in assault case.

While Goa Police has hitherto failed to trace the whereabouts of absconding ex-minister Francisco ‘Mickky’ Pacheco, it has also not managed to get any breakthrough from his close links including his wife Viola.

“Our team inquired with Viola and his (Mickky’s) close friends about whether Mickky has been in touch with them through phone calls or SMSes, but they denied. None have any information about his whereabouts,” a senior police officer told Herald.

The Margao JMFC had last month issued notice to Viola to produce the absconding politician before it, she being his surety in the court. The police higher ups had then directed the Colva police to quiz her along with other persons, closely linked with him, in a bid to ascertain his whereabouts. “Their deposition is not required to be recorded. We have nonetheless inquired with them but in vain,” he said.

Meanwhile, after the SC turning down his plea, Goa police is once again contemplating to sent its teams to places where the legislator is likely to be hiding.
