VASCO: The eight-day long annual Utsavam of Sree Ayyappa Temple, Mangor, will kick start from January 13 and will conclude with the Vedic/Thantric poojas and rituals on January 20.
Various cultural programmes will be staged during these days at the open air auditorium at the temple premises. A colourful procession (Shobayatra) with idol of Lord Ayyappa accompanied by the traditional Chendamelam, Thalappoli of women and girls and folk dances will be routed through Vasco city on 20th January evening from 6 pm.
The Utsavam rituals will start with Thrikottyettu (hoisting the flag of the temple on the Dwaja sthambam in front of the Sreekovil) followed by Aarathi, Ankurarohanam, Sreebhoothabali and Harivarasanam.
From January 14, daily rituals will start in the morning with abhishekam followed by Ganapathi Homam, Usha pooja, Ankura pooja, Navagam and Sree bhootha bali. The evening poojas will start with Aarthi at 6.30 pm followed by Ankurapooja, Athazhapooja, Sreebhoothabali, Vilakkinnezhunnellippu and Harivarasanam.
The final days Utsavam rituals on January 20 will start morning at 6 with Palliyunarthal, Abhisekam and Akathezhunnellippu. The main function of the Utsavam is Aarattu (holy dip of the Lord Ayyappa idol in the sea) starts evening 5 pm at the sea near Ravindra Bhavan, Baina beach followed by Shobayarta Parayidal, Kotiyirakkam, Aarattu kalasam, Deeparadhana and Harivarasanam.
