PONDA: Borim villagers have mocked at the claim of various political parties of having carried out a number of developmental works in the village.

“The political parties are making tall claims that they have carried out a number of developmental works in Borim, but the reality is, the village doesn’t even have a playground, despite fighting for the same for the last 25 years,” said a group of villagers.

“To garner votes, various political parties have been making tall claims and promising the sky. But once the elections are over, no one turns up to meet the people in village,” complained the villagers.

“In the absence of a playground, the students from the village are forced to go to Ponda and other places to for their practices,” said the villagers during an interaction with this correspondent.

Recently, they said, a tender was floated for construction of a playground at a cost of Rs 1 crore, but the contractor left the work half way.
