MARGAO: Six persons accused of road dacoity at Cortalim have been acquitted of all charges by the South Goa Sessions court due to lack of evidence.

MARGAO: Six persons accused of road dacoity at Cortalim have been acquitted of all charges by the South Goa Sessions court due to lack of evidence. 

The acquitted are Joseph Vales, Rushikesh Naik, Navin Naik, Vishant Naik, Mohmmad Rafi Nadaf and Suraj Nair.

They had allegedly stopped the tempo that Mustak Ahmed Buwaji and Hanumant Chalwadi were travelling in, on the Vasco-Cortalim road. Then, they pulled out Mustak from the tempo, abused him and assaulted him on October 1, 2013.

Mustak had also accused that the six had robbed cash or Rs 1800 and his mobile phone from him. His co-driver Hanumant had also alleged that the group had robbed Rs 2,000 from him.

All the accused have been acquitted of all charges due to lack of evidence.
