Wants name removed from all propaganda material

Margao: Social activist Swati Kerkar has resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and requested it to remove her name from all its propaganda material.

Kerkar has written an email to the party leaders asking them to accept her resignation, and pointing out that she had already conveyed her intent to resign to the convener.

“As there was confusion over whether I was a member or not since my name was not found in the online AAP directory, I am reiterating my intention through this email. Kindly consider myself as dissociated from the party and its affairs. I request that the party cease to use my name verbally and/or in any propaganda material, including the website. I also ask the party not to use my name to collect donations as shown in a link,” said Kerkar, while providing a copy of the link on AAP’s website.

She added, “Considering my candidature has no historic significance, I find no need for my name to feature on any material related to AAP.”

Swati has also warned that if AAP continues to use her name after 30 days of receiving her email, she will be forced to take legal action against the party.

It may be recalled that Swati had polled 11,246 votes when she contested on the AAP ticket for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat in 2014. Incidentally, AAP, which has kicked off its campaign and membership drive in Benaulim constituency, has spoken about its performance in the LS elections, during which, it had won 1,500 votes from Benaulim.
