One arrested with ganja at Calangute

PANJIM: Calangute police arrested a West Bengal native Alamgir Mondal (26) for alleged possession of drugs. 

The raid during the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday near the football ground at Calangute was based on a tip off that the person would arrive at the venue to deliver drugs to prospective customers.

“Accordingly a team was formed; police waited by the road side in civil clothes. Upon seeing the accused coming to the spot, the police immediately rounded him up and detained him. During personal search, he was found in possession of ganja worth Rs 38,000 in the international market,” Calangute police inspector Jivba Dalvi said.  

“The accused was brought at police station and placed under arrest.  An offence under section 20(b)(ii)(A) of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered.”
