PONDA: The Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Menino D’Souza has once again disqualified the seven directors of Goa Dairy holding them responsible for the mismanagement in purchasing raw material and fill-pack machines.

It may be recalled that last year the RCS had disqualified the same seven directors of Goa Dairy and even directed the chairman to suspend the managing director (MD). This was done based on an inquiry report submitted by the Accountant appointed by D’Souza.

The inquiry officer was appointed following complaints by the former chairman of Goa Dairy and dairy farmers that the co-operative unit was being mismanaged.

However, the seven directors challenged their disqualification in the High Court on the ground that they were not heard before their disqualification. Following this, the High Court set aside the disqualification order and allowed them to perform their duties as directors on Goa Dairy Board. 

In the same order, the High Court had ordered the RCS to conduct a proper inquiry into allegations against seven directors and hear their side of the story.

As ordered, RCS Menino D’Souza conducted an inquiry into the allegation, heard the seven directors and disqualified them. An eighth director was also disqualified on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, D’Souza appointed Dr Vilas Naik as the administrator of Goa Dairy.

The Board of Directors of Goa Dairy has 12 members. Since eight of the directors, constituting the majority, have been disqualified, the Board is automatically dissolved. Therefore, Dr Vilas Naik is appointed as the administrator of Goa Dairy.
