Panjim: Founder member and former president of Goa Forward Party, Prabhakar Timble resigned from the party’s primary membership on Monday. He had earlier resigned from the party’s presidentship.

In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the Goa Forward Party, Timble has stated "It is with pain and deep regret that I convey my resignation from the Founder/Primary membership of the Goa Forward Party. I assume my reasons are known to all and I do not wish to elaborate further to save the ridicule of being painted as a theoretician with no knowledge of practical politics. I also want to save the Goa Forward Party from embarrassment by this

disassociation as I need to guard my ‘Goemkarponn’.”

The party on Monday accepted Timble’s resignation and has appointed Renuka Da Silva as the acting President of the party.

Timble had resigned from the position of the party’s President on March 12 evening when the Goa Forward MLAs, Vijai Sardessai, Jayesh Salgaonkar and Vinoda Paliencar pledged their support to Manohar Parrikar-led BJP government.

Party spokesperson Prashant Naik informed that a committee has been formed to inform Timble about the chronology of events behind the curtain which led to the Goa Forward joining hands with the BJP to form the government.
