Visiting hours restricted at Old Goa, Mangueshi for Costa visit

PANJIM: In view of the visit of Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, the Tourism department has banned entry of general public, including tourists, to the religious complexes at Old Goa and Mangueshi on Thursday from 2 to 4pm and 3 to 5pm respectively.

PANJIM: In view of the visit of Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, the Tourism department has banned entry of general public, including tourists, to the religious complexes at Old Goa and Mangueshi on Thursday from 2 to 4pm and 3 to 5pm respectively.

The restricted hours, a tourism official said is to ensure security in and around Se Cathedral, Basilica of Bom Jesus and Mangueshi temple and at touristic locations like Adil Shah Palace and Institute Menezes Braganza. The Adil Shah Palace and Institute Menezes Braganza will be closed from 2 pm onwards.

During his tour, PM Costa will also be given an experience of Goa as a tourism destination in addition to his official obligations during his visit to the State. “Tourists have been requested to co-operate and defer plans of visiting these locations during the restricted hours,” a statement from the department said.

The Portuguese PM, tracing his roots to Goa is visiting the State for the first time after taking over the prestigious post.
