Incessant rains upset normal life in Vasco
VASCO: The incessant rains disturbed normal life in the port town on Sunday morning.
In Baina near old Chowgule hospital, due to clogging in the drains, the water flooded the roads and even entered some houses.
The residents alleged that the concerned authorities have failed to clear the drains due to which they had to face a lot of hardship. Some residents said they had to flush out the water that had entered their houses.
The residents further alleged that the council has failed to constitute a disaster management team to take care during such crisis. The Swantantra Path road near the Damodar Temple was also flooded.
The worst hit road was near El-Monte Theater at Desterro, where the water rose up to knee level
due to the clogging of the drains.
Most of the cars stopped in the middle of the road due to which entire traffic was blocked almost for half an hour.
The two wheelers and the motorists had to wait for the rain to stop and only when the rain stopped the water receded and it took almost 15 minutes for the vehicles to get cleared.
The Vasco fire tenders who were present at the site to avoid skidding off of two wheelers, later flushed off the silt that had accumulated on the road.
