South African among two held for drug peddling

PANJIM: Two alleged drug peddlers including a South African national were arrested for possession of drugs, in two separate raids at Calangute and Mapusa.
In the first raid, the Calangute police arrested Michael Tony with 56 small pieces of LSD paper stripes on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday. The drugs
are valued at Rs 56,000.
The police team, on a tip off, laid a trap near Coca De Chick restaurant at Sangolda where the alleged peddler was expected to be waiting for his prospective customer. Police have recovered a wallet containing Rs 150, a mobile handset and a copy of the passport from him.
In another raid, Monday evening, Mapusa police arrested, Ganesh Talwar from Bastora with 850 grams of Ganja, worth Rs 15,000, near Sateri temple at Khorlim.
Both have been booked under various sections of the NDPS Act and remanded to police custody for interrogation.
