MARGAO: Fomento Green’s much-awaited waste treatment plant at Sonsodo is likely to be formally commissioned by November if the weather gods are kind enough in allowing putting the plant in place.
After a review of the ongoing work at the site by a Municipal team led by Chief Officer, S R Kotwale on Monday morning, Fomento Green CEO Sridhar Kamat said thought the trial runs of the plans will commence by August-end, the formal commissioning of the plant will take place in November. “If the plant goes on a trial run by this month end, it will require minimum eight weeks before it is formally commissioned”, Kamat told Herald.
Replying to a question,
Kamat said the plant is ready for installation, but the rain Gods have played spoil sport in transportation of the machinery to the site. “We are looking for a dry spell to transport the machinery by a heavy duty crane. If this happens during the next few days, I am confident that the trail runs will commence by this month end and the formal commissioning will take place by November”, Kamat added.
The Margao Municipal Council has entered into a Concession agreement with Fomento Green to set up the plant and machinery for the treatment of waste generated in the city.
