We at The People’s Paper have been truly humbled by the massive support we have got from you, our readers, well-wishers, and members of the larger Herald Family cutting across boundaries of religion, caste and class, in our efforts to bring to task those who have looted public resources and those who have been their willing accomplices. As Independent India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru said, though in a different context, we have redeemed our solemn pledge to write and publish in the people’s cause if not wholly then at least very substantially.
But this is just the beginning. Our sharp focus on the issues of the day that affect all Goans is aimed at making the powers-that-be provide redress, our relentless examination of the functioning of Government
departments is to ensure that the corrupt and uncaring feel the wrath of the people’s anger and their bosses come up with solutions, our special investigations into the scams that have robbed our State of the people’s resources spare none because we are not beholden to any lobby, Government, political party, NGO or big business.
To paraphrase the wartime British Prime Minister Winston Churchill ~ and make no mistake, for Goa too is waging a war, against graft and for good governance ~ we will fight from the air (waves) through HCN, we will fight with the support of the sea of Marathi-speaking Goans with Dainik Herald, we will fight on and for this land, our beloved Goa, whose voice HERALD has been since the year 1900…
Of course, we will continue to inform, entertain and engage with all Goans as we cater to their varied interests and stay relevant to their multiple requirements. But our prime interest is the public interest. We cannot be influenced, we cannot be bought and we cannot be bullied. We are here with only one purpose ~ to present the people’s voice and reflect their concerns in a thoroughly professional manner. To that end, we shall remain proudly independent, free and fearless.
That is our promise to Goa.
