Wagh calls for probe into affairs of Goa Sadan, Niwas in Delhi
July 20, 2012
PANJIM: The issue of monkeys bathing in the swimming pool of Goa Niwas highlighted by Herald was made mention of during the discussion on the demand for grants on Goa Sadan.
Raising the issue, San Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh called for an inquiry into the management of the Goa Sadan and Goa Niwas in Delhi as well as the appointment of an estate officer to manage both these state government run facilities.
Also
speaking on the issue of the government’s plans to build a Goa Sadan in Vashi, Wagh said that the location chosen by the government was out of the way and would not serve the purpose of Goans.
To travel from Vashi to Mumbai one will have to go by train and we all know how Goans travel by Mumbai trains, Wagh said in inimitable style explaining how Goans say that a particular train is too crowded and that they will wait for the next and the next and the next.
Raising another a crucial point, Vasco-da-Gama MLA Carlos Almeida requested that the government either take over or enter into agreements with the many Goan clubs in Mumbai because they are centrally located and could well serve the purpose instead of building a new Goa Sadan in Mumbai.
There are more than 200 Goan clubs still running in Mumbai many of which are in a dilapidated condition and in want of government support especially since they face high-handedness from the Mumbai police at the behest of builders in Mumbai since these clubs occupy prime land.
