BELGAUM: Leaders and citizens from Goa and Karnataka will converge at the silver jubilee celebrations of the Giants Group of Belgaum (Main) on Sunday. “We expect that a new chapter of bilateral relationship between Belgaum and Goa will commence as the outcome of Sunday celebrations,” Patil ascertained.
Portuguese courses
PANJIM: Communicare Cultural Centre at Dona Paula has started admissions to its new batches of Portuguese courses for adults for beginner level. Vocational training at Vasco sub-jail
PANJIM: Vedanta Foundation, Sesa Goa & Goa Prisons Authority jointly formulated a training programme to provide skills to jail inmates to help them return to a dignified life outside the prison. Goa’s Inspector General of Prisons Mihir Vardhan today inaugurated on such training centre at the Vasco sub jail. The vocational training program is a part of Vedanta Foundation’s UMEED project, a pan-India programme that works to rehabilitate prison inmates. The programme is aimed to give the inmates the skills that will allow them to join the socio-economic mainstream and contribute positively to society. Vedanta Foundation’s Umeed project has conducted such vocational training programs for about 15,000 inmates across 30 prisons in the country.
Sekhar posted to SBI Panjim module
PANJIM: D Indu Sekhar has been posted as deputy general manager of State Bank of India’s Panjim module. He is a science graduate. He joined the bank in 1980 as a trainee officer of 1985 batch. Before joining the Panjim module, he held various assignments. He worked in Guntur, Piduguralla, Ponnerallu, Bandlamottu, Chirala. He was VP (Treasury & Investments) SBICAP, Mumbai. He was assistant general manager, Region II & III, Hyderabad. He also headed citizen SBI, Hyderabad as assistant general manager.

Smartphone showroom opened at Fatorda
MARGAO: Samsung’s first smartphone café in Goa was opened in the commercial capital on Thursday. The showroom was inaugurated by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai in the presence of the proprietor Sayed Amjad behind Grace Church this morning.
Proprietor Sayed Amjad said that customers can visit the store and enjoy experience with the latest technology. “The customers can get experience in wide range of products of Samsung ranging from tablets, cameras, laptops etc,” Amjad said. In his address, the Fatorda MLA said he is happy that Goa’s first Samsung smartphone café was opened in Margao for the benefit of the customers.
Calangute’s Agar Vaddo has Catholic panch in 35 years
PANJIM: Paul Mathias D’Souza has been elected as Panch Member for the Village Panchayat Calangute, for the 1st time after 35 years from Agar Vaddo.
