MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club blanked United Club of Utorda 2-0 to cruise into the semi-finals
of all-Goa 15th Bro. Eulalio Vaz memorial inter-village football tournament organized by Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, at Oratory ground, Friday. There was no score at half time.
Sao Jose de Areal dominated the game but poor finishing prevented them from breaking the deadlock. Their forward muffed a couple of sitters with only the rival goalkeeper at their mercy.
After the break, Areal shed their lethargic approach, raided the rival goal and found the breakthrough when Mariano Rebello slotted past the rival goalkeeper. Spurred by the success, Sao Jose de Areal piled on the pressure and doubled the lead when Mariano struck for the second time to complete his brace.
