PANJIM: Goa Carbon’s WGM Bhakti Kulkarni drew with WGM Padmini Raut (2304) of
Airport Authority of India to tally seven points after the tenth round and can emerge champion if she wins against IM Eesha Karawde (2393) of Maharashtra in the last and final round tomorrow of Bhavarlal and Kantabai Jain Foundations 39th Premier National Women Chess Championship 2012 at Jalgaon, Maharashtra.
Bhakti still maintains her joint lead alongwith IM Eesha and WGM Soumya Swaminathan of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board. However, Bhakti’s tie-break score is better than other two and hence has a clear chance of winning the prestigious title.
Meanwhile, WIM Ivana Furtado defeated WFM Raghavi (2113) of Tamil Nadu to tally 4.5 points. She will clash with G Lasya of Andhra Pradesh, tomorrow.
Yesterday, Bhakti Kulkarni drew with IM Nisha Mohata of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board while Ivana drew with WIM Bhayashri Thipse (2114) of Maharashtra.
