MARGAO: Colmorod Ratvaddo Sports Club (CRSC), Navelim defeated Nuvem Sports Club 3-2 in a thrilling encounter of GFA Under-18 (Salcete Zone) football tournament
at Rosary ground, Navelim, Thursday. There was no score at half time .
In an evenly contested opening session, the teams displayed attacking football, there being plenty of action at either goal.
Post resumption, CRSC put up a better performance with their midfielders and forwards working in tandem to put the rival defenders under tremendous pressure.
Evelon Gomes, who was a thorn in the rival defence, put CRSC into the lead in the 52nd minute when he received a pass in his own half and unleashed a stiff shot which crashed into the net.
Spurred by the success, CRSC piled on the pressure and rocked the rival citadel second time in the 56th minute when striker Evelon Gomes doubled the lead with a stiff grounder after receiving a through pass from Sidroy Miranda.
Stung by the double blows, Nuvem regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and managed to reduce the deficit in the 63 rd minute when Royen Alvares bulldozed the rival defenders and punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Stunned by the reducer, CRSC went into the attacking mode and raided the rival goal and their efforts bore fruit when Shenoy Cardozo beat the advancing rival goalkeeper with a snap shot in the 76th minute. Nuvem reduced the margin at the stroke of full time when Rojas Leitao Coalco bulged the net.
