MARGAO: Churchill Bros have been placed in Group E of 2013 AFC Cup alongwith Singapore Cup winners Singapore Armed Forces FC, Hong Kong champions Kitchee
and Indonesian champions Semen Padang.
The Goan club will play their home matches at Pune’s Balewadi Complex.
Churchill Alemao, patron Churchill Brothers Sports Club said, “It’s important for us to keep the Goan and Indian flag flying high no matter what it costs us. We are absolutely pleased to give our players a lifetime opportunity to play
against some of Asia’s best teams which will only help Indian football in the long run.”
Churchill Bros earned a slot in AFC Cup after Dempo pulled out from the prestigious contest citing non-availability of a suitable stadium in Goa, since the Nehru Stadium will be undergoing major renovation work in preparation for the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the football championship of 3rd Lusofonia Games in November 2013.
