PANJIM: Sporting Club of Davorlim edged past St Savio Sports Club, Calangute 5-4 via the tie-breaker to emerge champions in 12^th all-Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup football organized by Guirdolim Club at Chandor church ground, Chandor, Sunday. There was no score at full time.

DAVORLIM DHAMAKA: The players of Sporting Club of  Davorlim, receiving the winners trophy from Braz Alemao,  Seema Dias, Fatima Dias, Clafasio Dias, Vincie Peixoto,  Etelvina Antao and Piety Fernandes at Chandor church  ground, Chandor, Sunday.

St Savio could have forged ahead in the fifth minute but Prannoy’s shot sailed over the Davorlim bar. Davorlim exerted pressure and almost surged ahead but St Savio’s goalkeeper Marshal came to his side’s rescue and kept his slate clean.

In the second half, the teams went all-out in search of the match-winner but to no avail.

In the tie-breaker, Jose Colaco, Sandy Colaco, Wilson Miranda, Melvin Figueiredo and Bruno Costa were on target for Davorlim while Samir Chodankar, Albert Gonsalves, Cliff Fernandes and Rajkumar Naik converted for Calangute.

Davorlim received Rs 50,000.

Chief guest Braz Alemao, Seema Dias, Fatima Dias, Clafasio Dias, Vincie Peixoto, Etelvina Antao and Piety Fernandes gave away the prizes.

Earlier, Donald Souza, club president, welcomed. Darwin Cardoso, general secretary, compered. Gidwan D’Costa, organizing secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
