ROME, MARCH 20 (AFP) — Inter Milan on Wednesday denied tapping up Arsenal winger Alexander Hleb ahead of the English team’s Champions League match against AC Milan at the San Siro two weeks ago.
Newspapers in Britain and Italy made the claims but Serie A leaders Inter, the bitter city rivals of Milan, denied meeting with Hleb the night before the Champions League match.
“In response to the reports in the La Stampa newspaper yesterday, and today in several British newspapers who picked it up from the Italian agency (Ansa) Inter categorically denies this: we have never met with the footballer Alexander Hleb neither have we received a letter of protest from Arsenal,” Inter said on their website.
