Naughty Boys clinch title

MARGAO: Naughty Boys, Padribhat prevailed over Two Cross, Oilemol 5-4 via the tie-breaker to emerge champions in 8th inter-ward football
tournament organized by Holy Cross Association, Mugalli at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal, Sunday. There was no score at full time.
In an evenly contested match the teams had an equal number of chances. As the match progressed, Naughty Boys took the lead in the 15th minute when Freddy Oliveira fired home. Stung by the setback, Two Cross tried their best to neutralize the lead but failed to get past the rival defence.
Post resumption, Two Cross made tried to get back into the game. With time running out, Two Cross struck the equalizer late in the second half when Simon Cardozo cancelled the lead with a powerful volley.
In the tie-breaker, Freedy Oliveira, Franky Valadares, Agi Antao and Deryl Endro were on target for Naughty Boys while Polly Valadares, Simon Cardoz, Olfee Andreade netted for Two Cross.
Naughty Boys were richer by Rs 9,000 while Two Cross had to settle for Rs 6,000.
Fr Richard Pinheiro, parish priest of St Joseph Church, Sao Jose de Areal was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of Mariano Rodrigues and Fr George Ratos, assistant parish priest.
Other prizes: Best disciplined team: Igorjewado. Upcoming player of the tournament: Vishal Fernandes. First scorer of the final: Freedy Oliveira. Best goalkeeper: Pritish Naik (Two Cross). Best Forward: Rodney Travasso (Two Cross). Best defender: Polly Valadares (Two Cross). Best half: Deryl Endro (Naughty Boys).
