Navelim Villagers move into quarters

PANJIM: Navelim Villagers defeated Carmona Sports Club 3-2 to move into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Jose memorial inter-village football tournament at St. Alex church ground, Curtorim. The score was
1-1 at half time.
Navelim forged ahead in the fifth minute through Alister Gomes off a Rovell Gomes pass. Carmona equalised in the 10th minute through Raju Cardozo after controlling a Valerio long pass from the right corner.
In the second half, Carmona increased their lead through Neil D’Cruz with a powerful shot from the penalty box. Stung by the deficit, Navelim started mounting pressure and equalised through Stanford Cardozo.
Navelim scored the all-important goal in the 50th minute through Alister Gomes off a fine pass from Alvito Colaco.
