DULER, APRIL 26 — Sai Avtar Sports Club, Anjuna overcame a stiff challenge to get the better of host Football Club of Siolim 1-0 to enter the last four of the Siolim Villagers Cup played at St Anthony’s Church grounds, Siolim, today. It was Anjuna who held the major share of domination in the first session of play, where they managed to find the nets in the 15th minute of play. An early cross taken by Shekar Kerkar from the right saw teammate Alvis Fernandes beautifully intercept it to finish with an adroit placement. The host, handicapped by the first half goal, worked tirelessly to wipe out the deficit, where they had the best chance to make it 1-1. Siolim’s Bradley Lobo was dangerously brought down by the Anjuna defender inside the danger zone prompting referee Sunil Nanodkar
to point to the dreaded spot but Bradley’s spot kick was stopped by Anjuna keeper Francis Mascarenhas. Francis Fernandes of Anjuna who came up with superlative saves was later adjudged the man of the match
