DULER, MARCH 19 — San Minguel Sports Club, Taleigao scored a narrow 5-4 win via tie-breaker over Football Club, Siolim to move into the quarter-finals of the Aldona Cup, organised by Quitula Sports Club, at Quitula grounds, Aldona. The evenly balanced encounter saw both the sides play to a goalless draw till the end of regulation time. In the first session, which produced much more thrills than the second session, saw either side coming close to scoring. Siolim had a glorious opportunity to take the lead in the 15th minute but Jayson Fernandes shot over the bar, despite if having the rival keeper at his mercy. On changing ends both the teams played very cautiously, not taking much risks and restricted play to the midfield. In the penalty shootout, the Taleigao side proved to
be better shooters, finding the mark through Pascoal Pereira, Francis Coelho, Nagesh Shirodkar, Martino Pereira and Jeremio Almeida while Jayson Fernandes, Victorino Rodrigues, Selwino Coelho and Anthony Fernandes netted for the losing side. Fredrico Fernandes’ shot was blocked by the Taleigao keeper Malcolm Mascarenhas
