Shukla rescues Goa in Ranji

PANJIM: Goa trailed by 108 runs with one wicket remaining in
the first innings at the end of the third day of Ranji Trophy Group C match against Andhra Pradesh at Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, Monday.
Resuming at their overnight total of 72/1, Goa lost Kamat early on when he was caught by Pradeep off the bowling of Sahabuddin. He scored 46 runs including eight fours. Bisla, of IPL fame, struck 30 runs off 52 balls including four fours before he lost his wicket when Vijaykumar completed a catch off Shivkumar’s bowling. Desai, who played a patient innings, scoring 20 runs off 97 deliveries, lost his wicket when his stumps were rattled by Shivkumar.
Ravikant Shukla and Reagan Pinto stitched up a 90-run partnership before Reagan’s stumps were dislodged by Shivkumar after scoring 29 off 92 balls with four shots to the fence and one over it. Rohan soon returned back to the hut, scoring just two runs before Shivkumar disturbed his furniture. Jakati was Shivkumar next victim, when he trapped the Goan skipper leg-before. He scored 17 runs with three fours.
Atchuta Rao grabbed two quick wickets, first he bowled Bandekar and later, got through the defence of Sherbahadur Yadav.
The highlight of the day was Ravikant Shukla’s patient innings in which he spent 282 minutes at the crease and amassed 84 runs off 181 including eight hits to the fence and one over it. His strike rate was a credible 46.40. Goa are currently on 285/9 from 111 overs.
