DULER, APRIL 30 — St Sebastian Sports Club, Santa Cruz blanked Sangolda Lightning Club by scoring 3-0 win to make it into the quarters of Lakhanpal Soccer tournament, organised by Candolim Sports Club, at Dr Gustavo Monteiro stadium, Candolim. The game hardly sparked to life in the initial stages but as the match progressed the Santa Cruz side came with one close attempt, where McDavid Dias saw his fierce strike just miss the target by a whisker. McDavid finally managed to find the nets for his side when he unleashed a long ranger from the right wing, which hit the top corner of the post and entered the nylons. Sangolda did try to make a comeback to cancel the one goal lead but Washington Pereira saw his efforts could not be converted into goods. Santa Cruz made it 2-0 in the 5th
minute on crossing over, Manuel Dias curled in a superb 20-yard free kick which saw the Sangolda goalkeeper Mohan Satoskar miss the flight of the ball only to find the ball land into the empty nets. Rafael Fernandes netted the third and final salvo for the Santa Cruz with a simple placement to find Sangolda custodian rooted to the ground following a Mcdavid’s cross.
