MARGAO: Union Sports Club, Marcel beat Madanant Cricket Club by four wickets in a GCA South Zone ‘B’ Division Cricket League at Dr Rajendra

Batting first, Madanant scored 167 for the loss of six wickets in 34overs with Yatin Naik remaining undefeated on 45. He was well supported by Vinayak Mainkar, who chipped in with 42 runs. For Union Sports Club of Marcel, Paresh Gaonkar was the most successful bowler claiming 4 for 38 runs.
In reply, Madanant achieved the target scoring 168 for the loss of six wickets in 11 overs. Paresh Gaonkar stole the limelight cracking 42. Abhay Shiordkar was the other prominent batsman who contributed 36. Yatin Naik and Amit Kadekar picked three and two wickets respectively for Madanant.

At Arlem ground, Vijay Cricket Club scored a comfortable five-wicket win over Maruti Cricket Club. Batting first, Maruti were bundled out for 114 in 29.2 overs. Maruti batsmen went out cheaply with only Rajesh Shet scoring 23. For Vijay, Amar Devdas and Paul Fernandes claimed three wickets each.
In reply, Vijay achieved the target scoring 115 for 5 in 19.1 overs. Paul Fernandes was the top scorer for Vijay with 35. Ajay Kudchadkar claimed tree wickets for 28.
