Varad shocks Saish,storms into finals

PANJIM: Varad Karekar shocked second seed Saish Salelkar 21-16, 21-19 to storm into the boys under-17 singles final of Dhond memorial all-Goa major ranking badminton tournament, at Indoor Stadium, Campal, here.
Varad will face Tejan Fallary, who beat Sahshank Desai 21-13, 21-14 in the other semi-final.
Anura Prabhudesai and Emilia Silveira scored comfortable wins to move into the final of girls under-17 event. While Anura got the better of Pranjal Chimulkar 21-11, 21-14; Emilia accounted for Anar Singbal, winning 21-8, 21-16.
In the under-15 boys singles event, top seed Tejan Fallary will meet second seed Dhruv Angle in the final. Tejan smashed his way past Kartik Karekar, 21-16, 21-6 while Dhruv hammered Krishna Fallary 21-10, 21-13.
Meanwhile, Anura Prabhudesai and Manjushri Raut scored contrasting wins to move into the final of girls under-15 event. While Anura registered a thumping 21-5, 21-10 win over Anar Singbal, the match between Manjushri and Neha Sahakari went the full distance with Manjushri finally prevailing with a hard fought 13-21, 21-17, 26-24 win over her opponent.
