PANJIM: Vishwas Fernandes of VM Salgaocar Law and Tina Kurtikar of GVM’s clinched the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in inter-college carrom tournament organized by GVM’s College of Commerce and Economics, Ponda in association with Goa Carrom Association and GVM’s Alumni Association at Ponda.

Vishwas defeated Vaibhav Palikar of GVM’S in straight sets while Tina beat Alisha Valadares of Salgaocar.

In the doubles event, Ranjeet Duble and Aditya Panjikar of Kare Law got the better of Vaibhav Palikar and Abhay Gaude of GVM’s to secure the first place.

In all, 11 colleges participated.

Quarter-finals: Ritesh/Krishna (Pernem) bt Vasudev/Yeshwant (DMC), Aditya/Ranjeet (Kare Law) bt Vishwas/Pravin (VM Salgaocar), Vaibhav/Abhay (GVM’s) bt Aslam/Henry (Quepem), Mazinho/Joel (Fr Agnel) bt Vinayak/Giljete (CES).

Women’s singles semi-finals: Tina Kutikar (GVM’s) bt Mamta Fondekar (VM Salgaocar), Alisha Valdares (VM Salgaocar) bt Ashmita Gaude (GVM’s).

Dr Pradeep Maskhe was the chief guest. Prakash Chari, secretary, GCA was the guest of honour. Nandita Borkar, SAG’s carrom coach was also present. Betty D’Silva PE director of GVM’s compered, Later, she proposed the vote of thanks.
