Wesley does Goa proud

PANJIM: Bright prospect Wesley do Rosario (Fomento Resources) did Goa proud by emerging champion in the under-12 cadet singles of East Zone Table Tennis Ranking tournament held in West Bengal.
Wesley achieved the top spot by beating Mahuri N of Bengal 3-1 in the final.
In the semi-finals, Wesley thrashed Reagan Albuquerque of Maharashtra 3-0 while in the quarters, he drubbed Sriram Kanan of Tamil Nadu 3-0. In the pre-quarters he slammed Gaurang Shaktey of PSPB 3-0.
Earlier, Wesley qualified at the top position in group of 16.
Vero Nunes, president of Goa Table Tennis Association and vice-president of All India Table Tennis Association congratulated young Wesley for his splendid
performance. “He is the most talented player from Goa and I am sure he will go a long way and capture many more titles and bring laurels to our state. He is the golden boy of Goa Table Tennis and a rare talent which we are blessed with. Kudos to his father-cum-coach Lenny do Rosario who has sacrificed a lot to tap this talent and helped him along the way,” said Vero.
Former national table tennis player, Subash Pandit also lauded Wesley for his excellent showing. “He has the potential of being a future champion,” he said in awe of the young star.
The Panjim Table Tennis Club has extended their congratulations to Wesley on his stupendous feat and have announced a cash award of Rs 5,000 for the emerging star. The PTTC also praised the efforts of his father-cum-coach Lenny in constantly encouraging and guiding Wesley.
