Bhatikar Model enter semis; King’s School in last eight

MARGAO: Bhatikar Model School entered the semi-finals of the 17th Mukund Trikannad Memorial inter-school U-16 cricket tournament, organised by Margao Cricket Club (MCC) and played at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, Margao on Thursday.

MARGAO: Bhatikar Model School entered the semi-finals of the 17th Mukund Trikannad Memorial inter-school U-16 cricket tournament, organised by Margao Cricket Club (MCC) and played at Dr Rajendra Prasad Stadium, Margao on Thursday.
Last year’s winners –Bhatikar Model HS –started the campaign in style with 70 runs win over Sarvodaya HS of Curchorem. 
Batting first Bhatikar Model School scored 148 for 5 in allotted 20 overs. Omkar Deshbhandari was the top scorer with 57 runs. 
In reply Sarvodaya School scored 78 for 9 in allotted 20 overs. 
For Bhatikar Model, Subhav Borkar took 4 wickets giving away just 13 runs.
In the second match of the day, King’s HS Sao Jose de Areal made it to the last eight stage of the tournament with 8 wickets win over Kendriya Vidyalaya INS Bambolim. Batting first, Kendriya Vidyalaya scored 114 for 7 in 20 overs. 
In reply King’s chased down the target in the 19th overs with 8 wickets in hand. Shashank Verenkar (50 runs) and Izaan Shaikh (40 not out) had 89 run partnership for the opening wicket.
Brief scores: Bhatikar Model HS, 148 for 5 in 20 overs (Omkar Deshbhandari 57, Ganesg H. T. 29, Anish Maddolkar not out 16, Digesh Raikar 13 runs. Vaibhav Rathod 2-31) beat Sarvodaya High School, 78 for 9 in 20 overs (Prahlhad Naik 28, Aryan Khutkar 17, Aniket Shah 11 runs. Subhav Borkar 4-13, Kaushal Hattangadi 3-8, Druv Lolienkar 1-16).
Kendriya Vidyalaya INS Bambolim, 114 for 7 in 20 overs (Vishal Jha 49, K. Sanjay 15 runs. Sahil Chalke 3 wickets) lost to King’s School, 115 for 2 in 19 overs (Shashank Verenkar 50, Izaan Shaikh not out 40 runs. K. Sanjay 2 wickets).
