The match ended in a goalles draw after both the teams failed to convert their chances

RAWANFOND/NAVELIM: The match played between Churchill Brothers SC and Calangute Association ended with goalless draw   in the Goa Professional League match held at 3MTR football ground, Rawanfond, on Saturday.

Churchill Brothers SC dominated with upfront moves through Pankaj Sona and Sandeep Subba while Calangute Association’s 

Pedro Gonsalves and Yogesh Kadam tormented the rival defence. 

Sunny Fernandes of Calangute Association rolled the ball to Yokesh Kadam in the third minute however the latter’s move was tackled by Mildfred Rebello, defender of Churchill Brother SC.

It was Pankaj Sona for Churchill Bros SC who missed a goal scoring chance in the 6th minute but shot wide.

Pankaj Sona of Churchill Brothers SC should have broken the deadlock after Sandeep Subba sent a fine cross from the left flank but his header ballooned over in the tenth minute.

Churchill Brothers SC should have done much better this time in the as Pankaj Sona played a ball to Sandeep but his eventful effort was foiled by Bonny Niasso, defender of Calangute Association.

Calangute Association made a tricky move through Bonny Niasso and Sunny Fernandes foxed, Suraj, defender of Churchill Brothers but Sunny’s shot lacked power as the rival goalkeeper made an easy save. 

A golden opportunity for Churchill Brothers came in the 41st minute as their striker Samson Fernandes sent in a perfect inch cross to midfielder Sandeep Subba but the formers header was denied by Calangute goalpost.

The second half saw Churchill Brothers SC manager, Denzil Ferrao field Doyl D’Silva however Doyl was quite wasteful throughout the half. 

Doyl connected the ball to Pankaj but the former failed to score in the 49th minute.

In the 50th minute, Kouame M Bra of Calangute Association header collided with Basant Rai of Churchill however the ball was timely grabbed by Churchill goalkeeper after Pedro Gonsalves of Calangute Association provided the ball.

Calangute Association missed a best chance with the net almost open, Agnelo Colaco’s high voltage power shot missed by whiskers before the curtains came down.
