RAIA: Davorlim SC defeated Chandor SC 4-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the quarter-final of the Rachol Overseas Cup , organised by Raitura Sports Club and held at the Raia Panchayat ground, on Tuesday.
Davorlim SC had the first chance of the match but Piedade Colaco hit the crossbar from close range in the third minute and went out of play.
The chances kept coming at both ends and Chandor had a great opportunity when they won a free-kick close to the edge of the box, but the free-kick taken by Moises D’Sa kissed the SC Davorlim bar and went out of play in the 9th minute.
Chandor had another chance but Sunny Fernandes’ shot was saved by the rival goalkeeper in the 15th minute.
Mack Borges had a best opportunity and this time SC Davorlim should have scored but his shot went over the cross piece of Chandor in the 38th minute.
Mack Borges had two more chances to score in the 40th and 45th minutes, but on both occasions he shot wide.
In the resultant tie- breaker SC Davorlim proved to be better shooters.
Davorlim SC will lock horns with the winners of Calangute Association and Carmona SC in the quarter-final on January 20.
