Regina Martyrum edge past St Thomas


CHINCHINIM: Regina Martyrum HS, Assolna got the better of St Thomas HS, Cansaulim 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Mount Mary's High School Chinchinim football tournament dedicated to St Joseph Vaz, played at Our lady of Hope church ground, Chinichinim, on Friday.
Anwil Costa of St Thomas dribbled past Jovi D’Silva and Croyeln Fernandes defenders of Regina Martyrum and shot from the top of the St Thomas box but Steno Rebello keeper of Regina Martyrum made a diving effort to save the ball in the 8th minute.
 Aildred Correia of St Thomas shot from close range but the ball went over the cross bar of Regina Martyrum. In the 12 minute, Regina Martyrum took the lead through Jasvir Crasto’s placement shot but the joy was short lived as within twelve minutes substitute Rahul Magennavar the defender of St Thomas headed in to equalise off  Amanulla Hodekar’s corner kick.
With four minutes left for the final whistle, Jasvir Crasto netted the match winner for Regina Martyrum with an arrow bond shot.
In the another match, Assumpta Convent HS defeated St Rock HS, Tolecanto 4-2 via the tie-breaker 
to move into the quarter-finals. Nigel, Chadel, Myron and Edsel netted for Assumpta while Prinson and Jeriton scored for St Rock HS, Tollencanto.
