Regina Martyrum HS edge past St Mary HS
Nash scores a brace for the winners while Agnel nets a consolation goal
FATORDA: Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna edged past St Mary’s High School, Varca 2-1 to move into the next round of the U-17 Suborto Mukherjee Salcette Taluka football tournament organised by DSYA, at Astro Turf ground, Fatorda, on Wednesday.
In the second minute, St Mary striker Wilson Baha took control of the ball from Rohit Shawan and dribbled past Regina defenders Cryoden Fernandes and Crosley Luis and shot from the left flank but Regina keeper Frazier Cardozo palmed the ball away to safety.
At the other end, Regina striker Prajwal Zuvatker’s long ranger was saved by St Mary keeper Sheikh Usman in the 15th minute.
In the second half, St Mary’s Wilson Baha took control of the ball from Agnel Soreng and dribbled past the Regina defenders and netted the first goal of the match with a placement shot in the 35th minute.
Minutes later, St Mary’s Wilson’s shot hit rival post and went out of play. Regina through substitute Amrash Pawar tapped the ball inside the St Mary’s net off Nash Diniz assist in the 65th minute to level terms.
Five minutes later, Regina’s Nash Diniz scored the match winner with a snap shot.
In another match, at the same venue, Gauncar HSS, Raia defeated Marina English High School, Verna 2-0 to move into the next round.
Prisco D’Silva and Calyx Miranda netted a goal each for Gaunkar HSS, Raia.
