Rosary HS blank St Xavier’s HS

FATORDA: Rosary High School, Navelim blanked St. Xavier’s High School, Velim 5-0 to move into the next round of the U-17 Subroto Mukherjee Salcete Taluka girls football tournament organised by DSYA, at PJN Stadium, on Tuesday.
Rosary’s Jolinda Ferrao netted two goals and controlled her team in all departments of the match. In the 4th minute, St Xavier’s striker Valira Correia took control of the ball from midfielder Sharel Fernandes and dribbled past Rosary defender Muskan Babu and Melifa Pereira and shot from close range but the Rosary keeper Mamta Rajkumari saved it brilliantly.
At the the other end, Rosary started firing on all cylinders and netted the first goal of the match through Sirin Totad with a snap shot in the 6th minute. Four minutes later, Muskan Kambli doubled the lead. In the 12th minute, Sirin Totad made it 3-0.
In the second half, Jolinda Ferrao netted a brace for Rosary in the in the 27th and 38th minutes respectively to make it 5-0.
In another match, Our lady of Carmel High School, Curtorim edged past Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim 2-1 to move into the next round. Melvira Fernandes and Criffa Pereira netted a goal each for the winners while Jolin Pires scored a goal for the Navelim school.
