Antimo Gomes awards presented

MARGAO: Canon Antimo Gomes annual awards for Diocesan Society of Education teachers were conferred upon four teachers who besides a citation were also presented with Rs 5000 each.
The recipients of the award are Ms Carmina da Silva pre primary school teacher of St Mary’s High School Varca, Angelo Silva, physical education teacher at Regina Martyrum High School Assolna, Ms Ivy Arifa Masarenhas Pereira, secondary school teacher at St Joseph’s High School Arpora and Ms Elcy Gracias, pre primary school teacher at St Theresa’s High School Chaudi, Canacona.
The awards are presented by evaluating in rotation the performance of teachers in 16 schools in four groups with each group comprising four schools.
Late Fr Antimo Gomes was the founder secretary of Diocesan Society of Education, principal of St Xavier's College at Mapusa. Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Church Panjim and Director of Lar de Estudantes at Altinho in Panjim.
