South ZP create infra worth ` 2 cr for schools and clubs

MARGAO: South Zilla Panchayat has tendered works amounting to over rupees two crore to create infrastructure and improve the condition of education institutes in the district including government school, aided schools and private schools. Further some clubs too have benefitted immensely from the ZP funds.
Works worth Rs 13,56,153 were tendered to provide amenities to anganwadis in the district. This includes constructing a new anganwadi in Davorlim besides constructing a shed and compound wall for another. Other works undertaken for anganwadis include constructing toilets, verandahs and providing chain link fencing for one at Ghantamorod in Aquem Baixo village.
Works estimated at Rs 5,88,892 were tendered to construct a badminton court for Ameya Higher Secondary School at Curti to construct a retaining wall near Mount Mary Higher Secondary School at Chinchinim.
As for government schools including primary schools, works worth Rs 79,86,307 were tendered. Works like providing pavers, constructing toilets, stage, platforms and steps were recommended. Works estimated at Rs 9,51,426 were tendered to construct shed and provide pavers for two Government High Schools, one at Vansal in Sacordem village and the other at Dullay in Dharbandora.
Works in two government primary schools in Curti constituency were also tendered for an amount of Rs 3,99,702 to construct a stage at the school in Savoi-Verem and to construct platform and steps to the school in ward number 9 of Curti village. 
Works estimated at Rs 77,72,812 were tendered to provide various works for aided schools in the district with the Navelim constituency represented by Edwin Cardoso alias Cipru tendering works worth Rs 16,47,818 to provide infrastructure to four schools in four different villages of the constituency.
Navelim was followed by Nuvem which is represented by Reuben D’Costa where works estimated at Rs 9,42,524 were tendered to provide pavers to Mae do Pobres High School and to prepare a footpath with pavers to Holy Rosary High School at Belloy, both being in Nuvem village.
Works estimated at Rs 23,26,866 were tendered to provide infrastructure or equipment to private schools in five different constituencies with Cortalim constituency represented by Antonio Vas tendering the highest worth works at Rs 7,83,873 for two schools in this constituency.
Cortalim was followed by Sancoale constituency represented by Gilbert Rodrigues where works estimated at Rs 5,45,852 were tendered to take up two works for the Kiran Niketan School at Sancoale, constructing a compound wall and stage for it.
Zilla Panchayat representatives have granted funds to organizations and clubs. Nelly Rodrigues and Minaxi Gaonkar have helped create infrastructure for private organizations or clubs in their respective constituencies.
