Regina Martyrum HS win UCV Cup
ASSOLNA: Regina Martyrum High School defeated Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda 5-4 via the tie-breaker to win the UCV Inter-School Cup organized by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers, at Church ground, Chinchinim, on Thursday.
Our Lady of Rosary HS Fatorda took the lead in the 11th minute when Sydney Gaonkar beat the Regina goalkeeper with a neat placement. Rosary HS led 1-0 at the breather.
Regina Martyrum pressed hard from the word go in the second half and scored the equalizing goal within 10 minutes. The teams played 1-1 draw at the end of the regulation time.
In the tie-breaker Joean Simoes, Crosley Luis, Brighton Fernandes and Jolan Simoes scored for Regina while Jordan Borges, Prasad Shinde and Rahul Sharma scored for Rosary Fatorda.
Chief guest Fr Stifan Rebello, Assistant Parish Priest of Our Lady of Hope Church, Chinchinim gave away the prizes in the presence of guest of honour Benjamin Silva, former Velim MLA and President of Futsal Association of Goa and other dignitaries.
