Take students to watch 'Amori', Education Dept tells schools

PANJIM: To raise awareness on environmental issues among the students, the government has taken an initiative - apart from curriculum studies - allowing schools to take its students to watch the national award winning film “Amori” which is based on conserving environment, water resources, etc.
“As you all (are) aware that the depletion of environment/ water resources is presently posing a serious threat to our very existence. A time has, therefore, come that we better be serious to educate and mould the minds of our youngsters to realise the truth and gear up themselves for this new challenge as future citizens,” Education Director Vandana Rao has said in a circular to heads of primary to secondary and special schools.
“The film mentioned above (Amori) propagates the message of environment/water conservation  to the children. Therefore all the Heads of Government/Aided/Unaided schools may decide to show the film to the students who are interested in watching the film “Amori” wherein no financial liability will accrue to this Directorate,” the circular reads.
It further ads that the institutions can use the Bal Rath buses to ferry sufficient number of students and teachers.
The film, which recently won the national award for “Best Konkani Film” in the 66th National Film Awards, is directed by Dinesh Bhonsle, and produced by Opus Gala. It has been learnt that the film took nearly two-and-half years as it was shot at several unexplored locations and difficult terrains in various weather conditions.
