The Governance in Goa is paradoxically in its element, with each one of the Party cadre throwing their weight sans any thorough knowledge of what it is all about; nevertheless, clamouring wantonly to be heard irrespective of the fact that the person at the helm of affairs isn’t clamoring for his fundamental rights – i.e., to pay heed and contemplate.
This affair I bring forth is due to rhapsodies enacted during the capsule ‘Bharat Bandh’ invoked by the BJP High Command in New Delhi to protest the steep rise in the prices of petrol and to demand its roll back which is inconveniencing vehicle owners, and not the people without any vehicle which makes sense over the senselessness of the matter.
The demands are justified, but how it was conducted gives vent to the anger of poor citizenry in general. First of all there poor vendors were urged to shut shop irrespective that they were conducting their legal business out of sheer necessity to bring home sustenance, and not being biased by petrol rise. However there were buffoons who after consuming their breakfasts at their own leisure, were vociferous in their demand that shops should remain shut. And, should anybody dare contradict their demands there were flexing of muscles and on witnessing it, an old shopkeeper expressed: “How can we pay heed to these hooligans who in the name of the Party want us to shut our own premises where it ensures us rice and curry, while they in the name of the Party are wallowing in the spoils?” To exacerbate matters all the eating joints in Panjim were closed for business when Goa is in urgent need of tourists, given that other industries are literally negated; they were seen practically crying to ensure that their children had a decent feed.
I iterate that party cadres can indulge in whatsoever is required but leave the common man in peace. This makes me utter the anserine espousal of indoctrination which is being played by the present dispensation. When will it end? It is for us to decipher the enigma of cauterization – Amen.
