There has been a lot of unrest among the local people specially in the villages of San Jose de Areal and Davorlim etc, as to the number of scrapyards in the locality and the danger it poses to the people.
My question is `Does Goa produces so much scrap to have so many scrap yards? Or, is it just the idea of the rich migrants to encroach on government and communidade lands?
To my knowledge, all these owners of scrap yards are rich migrants and its employees are not Goans. The government should not rehabilitate them in Goa, but send them back to their native states. Goa is the smallest state where land is scarce for the original Goans. These rich scrap yard owners can directly transport the scrap from Goa to their native states.
Secondly, there is lot of encroachment on government acquired land as well on communidade land. The government is turning a Nelson eye to this development. Over period, these encroachers obtain NOC for Electricity and Water connection from panchayats and municipalities. Thanks to greedy persons elected at grass root level.
I strongly protest the statement made by Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho regarding legalization of houses built on communidade land. These communidade system existed in Goa prior to Liberation for the benefit of local common man. Legalisation of houses should be done only of the poor Goan common man and not common man from other states.
I hope our current vocal MLAs like Curtorim MLA Reginald or Fatorda MLA Vijay Sardessai will take up this issue in the current Assembly session.
I request the NGOs like villages group etc to take note of this.
