Ahead of the public hearings on the draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP), KARSTEN MIRANDA takes a look at all the multiple issues that have been raised by the people, environmental activists and even committees that were appointed by the State government itself. A process which should have been less complicated and more inclusive of the public, has seen repeated objections from local stakeholders such as the fishing community and residents of coastal areas. The new plan will replace the existing plan that has been in force since 1996 and there are concerns that if errors are accepted in this new plan, it could take more than two decades for the same to be rectified
