Priti Gokani casts a spell with love, light and a bit of magic

Priti Gokani’s latest exhibition at the

Taj Exotica Resort and Spa, Benaulim is a series of exciting abstract watercolours embodying the spirit of love, light and a bit of magic! A self taught artist, Priti moved to Goa two years ago. Her work is inspired by flowers, trees, water and the flow of nature and its free spirit.

The watercolour painting exhibition titled ‘Love, Light and a Bit of Magic’ had a grand opening at Opening at the Taj Exotica, Benaulim on October 17, 2018 at the hands of Vincent Ramos, Area Director, Taj, Goa and General Manager, Taj Exotica Resort & Spa.

Her series invites you to look at universal values expressed through a medium of abstract form and colour giving complex concepts a simple realm.

‘Love, Light and a bit of magic’ presents two bodies of watercolour works. Each speaks of universal love. ‘We are many we are one’ tells of communities of beings of light. A community of nature, humans, animals living in oneness and harmony. The second body of work expands on universal love via a thought that ‘We are all connected’. This body of work features imaginary beings and DNA like strands that seem to connect nature and all beings in oneness. The collection is a unique presentation inspired by flowers and water of which Goa has an abundance of both.

Her paintings are an expression of her experiences and interests which are wide and varied reflecting her vivacious personality. Fluent in Portuguese she is influenced by the art of Brazil that resonates in her work and tastes. Flavours of the exotic and esoteric visuals characterise her work, spices of rhythmic themes emanate from her images.

Starting out as a graphic designer with over two decades of experience in the bustling city of Mumbai, Priti made her mark working with upcoming brands. Working mainly with corporates for their branding requirements, Priti excelled in the food and beverage industry, styling restaurants and attending to their design needs. But her creative juices bubbled and overflowed prompting her to leave the hustle and bustle of the big city for the more quiet and restive atmosphere of South Goa where she now lives.

The serenity of a more verdant surrounding has invigorated her passion; effervescent in approach there is a spontaneity in her paintings that lends a certain uniqueness that attracts the eye.

Impeccable sense of colour and balance is what her work is all about.
