A COMEDY SHOW BY NAVIN NORONHA
Navin Noronha is a writer-producer who also dabbles in stand-up comedy and improv. He is in Goa for his solo comedy show ‘The Good Child’, which will take place on Sunday, at the LVC Comedy & Music Cafe, Caculo Mall, at 8 pm
He's chubby, he's funny and he's gay.
And now he's coming
out with his own one hour stand-up comedy show.
Mainly because people
told him it's high time and after three years of performing, people still
remember him for showing up that one time on popular shows such as ‘Queens of
Comedy’ or ‘Son of Abish’.
There are a lot of
things Navin has to say and since he cannot fit an audience inside that comfy closet,
he is stepping out to stir things up.
Navin Noronha is a
writer-producer who also dabbles in stand-up comedy and improv. Born and raised
in suburban Mumbai, he prides himself on being a gay liberal who would like the
world to be a slightly better place.
“The solo comedy show
'The Good Child' has been on tour for the past month and has been in the making
my entire life. I have been doing stand-up comedy for four years now and
through my act, I tell the story of my multiple coming out of different closets.
Being one of India's few openly gay comedians, I believe this show is one of
many stories about lives we do not know about. And I have made it my mission to
reach out to as many people as I can through humour and bring queer stories to
the front,” says Navin, who has created his own niche in the comedy industry in
India.
So far he has
performed the show in Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata, with more cities
planned in the second leg. Going by the response he has received on this tour,
Navin is looking forward to playing in Goa, especially against the backdrop of
the state emerging as a popular destination for numerous leading stand-up
comedians over the last few years. “Goa is the perfect city to close this leg
of the tour,” adds Navin, while jokingly describing the tour as his
anxiety-fueled self-affirming trip.
Besides having his
own YouTube channel (Navin Noronha), he also hosts a podcast that is called
‘Keeping it Queer’, which is available on all major platforms and helps amplify
stories and lives of several other LGBTQ+ people.
“With
the Supreme Court verdict on Section 377 still fresh in our minds, it is
important to open the stage to more unique perspectives, “adds Navin, when
asked to comment about the recent developments.
