The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has created a huge following across the world with their visually impactful stories of superheros. It’s no doubt that one can get addicted to these films and watch them over and over again. Fortunately, they release movies within a few months to keep the audience entertained. Their latest film is Taika Waititi directed ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/ Lady Thor and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.
Pranav Naik from Panjim is a diehard
Marvel fan who has watched all the movies in the franchise. “Last we saw Thor,
was in Avengers Endgame, with a dad bod. So it was no surprise that the trailer
of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ started with eliminating that possibility by
showing us his work out session. What was surprising was that Mjolnir belongs
to Jane Foster now. And although we knew that she was playing a goddess of
thunder in this one from the posters that were released a year ago, it will be
interesting to see how that came about. However, the most intriguing part of
the movie for me is going to be watching Christian Bale be a kickass villain,
out on a mission to kill all the gods. In spite of this serious plot, the movie
seems to have a wild comic side to it, just like in ‘Ragnarok’,” says Pranav,
whose favourite superheroes are Iron Man and Dr Strange.
“I always prefer to watch MCU movies on the big screen because
it’s an experience in itself. They work really hard on the special effects/CGI
and make it look very realistic. It’s always a treat for the eyes. I think
everyone around us has a superhero fantasy. But that isn’t really a
possibility. So watching them on big screen makes us feel like one of them,”
adds Pranav.
Rohan Coutinho has booked the first day first show ticket to the
latest film of the franchise. “I love how the Marvel multiverse is unfolding on
screen. There are multiple surprise elements in the films and there’s always
something unexpected revealed at the end of the films. I loved Iron Man’s
charisma on screen and now we even have our own Farhaan Akhtar in Ms Marvel.
It’s a proud moment for an Indian to be a part of that multiverse. I have
watched all the films and even the series released on OTT, right from ‘Wanda-Vision’
to ‘Agents of Shield,’ says Rohan from Goa Velha.
“I am looking forward to the main character, Thor’s, development
keeping in mind the back story and moving forward his role in the MCU. Marvel’s
larger than life storytelling backed with powerful visual artistry, innovative
features in every new film and compelling back stories take each franchise
forward. ‘Avenger’s Endgame’ is one of the best films, giving equal screen time
to a multitude of character. Marvel has succeeded in making people believe in
these fictional characters. They brought them to live, giving them real world
problems, challenges, motives ad goals that relate to many of us. I get
attracted to strong reliable storytelling. That’s the spine of these films,’
says Fabian Gonsalves from Calangute.
Johann Conceicao from Pirna considers Wanda to be the strongest
Avenger right now in the cinematic universe. “I watched all the Marvel movies
including the three Thor movies. What I am going to miss in this film is the
presence of Loki, the mischievous demi-god but since it is Marvel, you can’t
predict what can happen. I might also bring back Loki from another universe in
the multiverse. The resurrection might be a big surprise,” says Johann.
Black Panther fan, Briscio Fernandes from Assnora is excited
about the new changes in the film especially the exchange of roles by Thor and
Lady Thor. “The beauty of these films is that you never get bored. There is
always something different happening in each of their films. It keeps you on
your toes. I was more excited for ‘Spiderman – No Way Home’ more than Thor
because three Spidermen were on screen together,” says Briscio.
Olivia Coutinho from St Cruz is looking forward to Chris
Hemsworth himself. He has trained really hard to showcase his physique for this
film. “I don’t have high expectations from the film as I want to enjoy watching
the movie. The whole look of the films especially its cinematography is out of
this world. If you miss one movie of the franchise, you will lose an important
clue of what’s going to come next. I wait patiently for the post credit scenes
which many people miss by walking out of the theatre. Only true Marvel fan will
know about it,” say Olivia.
Adrian Sequeira from Gogol, Margao bought his film ticket almost
a month in advance that too first day first show. “I got hooked on to the
Marvel universe in 2008 with ‘Iron Man’, the first movie of the franchise. The
way they portrayed their characters on screen was amazing. I also have a Marvel
encyclopedia at home so whenever a new character is introduced we open up the
books to read more about them. I am looking forward to watching Thor’s golden
armour and the whole dynamic between Chris Hemsworth and Christian Bale, who is
making his Marvel debut,” says Adrian.
Celeste Sanchez from Margao, has not watched the trailers of the
film as she didn’t want any spoilers. “I am waiting to see Jane Foster and what
happened that she turned into Lady Thor. Even I wish I was a superhero. I like
how the Marvel universe is now giving equal importance to women superheros.
Captain Marvel is the most powerful superhero in the universe and now we have
Ms Marvel as well. Marvel films have a special place in everyone’s heart,” says
Celeste, who calls Iron Man her first superhero.
Shubham
Haldankar from Chorao has been watching these films from his childhood and he
feels he has grown up with the Marvel universe. “Everyone is a Marvel fan. The
way they present the movies is really astounding. Even though it is completely
illogical, you can still find logic in these movies. I am very excited about
Thor and my colleagues and I have already booked the tickets. It is an
emotional journey with these characters and I can’t afford to lose the chance
of watching each movie in cinema,” says Shubham.
