the Big Foot Sanskriti Kendra in Loutolim with over 1000 children from underprivileged backgrounds in attendance, including special and physically challenged children from institutions in Goa. The underlying theme for the event was celebrating ‘simplicity’, a movement of returning to the roots and treating everybody as equals. This was to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Gandhiji and in keeping with his principles. The day’s festivities commenced with games and activity stalls, including traditional games like ‘Viranim’, ‘Cock Fight’ and ‘Logorio’ which were theme appropriate. ‘Putting the Glasses on Gandhi’ a spinoff on a classic party game was a huge success among the children. The games were followed by lunch which was served to all 1300 of the attendees and a concluding Cultural Programme, where the children themselves performed skits, songs and dances. The children, animators and volunteers, from seven different colleges in Goa, alike ended the event with an all out dance party.
