Sonali is among India’s brightest new talents in the comedy circuit and she impressed as Kenny Sebastian’s opening act last November. Goa Comedy Festival begins on August 30, 2018 and ends on September 2. The festival is being opened by India’s biggest comedian Zakir Khan who is fresh of his first sold out stadium world tour. Day 2 and 3 feature some of the best entertainers in the state across various forms of entertainment: Stand-up comedy, music, magic and poetry. The local line up features (Las Viegas Comedy Club ) LVC comedian and chief, and soon to be feature on Amazon Prime’s Comicstan series, Warren Viegas. The local line up will also features ‘Back to College’, a show by Ashish Acharya and Lester D’souza, two of Goa’s best local micers. The final day is headlined by host of Son of Abish and regular feature in All India Bakchod(AIB) sketches, Abish Mathews.

Abish Mathew

He sings, he dances, and when neither are enough, he tells jokes. One of the most recognised faces of Indian comedy, Abish Mathew was one of the first Indian YouTube stars, with over 30 million views on his channel. These videos include sketches, stand-up, and of course, his hit talk-show, ‘Son of Abish’, which has featured stars like AIB, Vishal Dadlani, Kanan Gill, Badshah, Taapsee Pannu, Cyrus Broacha and Vir Das. ‘Son of Abish’ is now into its third season and brings with it something different each time! The stand-up comedian has performed 1000+ shows across India and the world, including New York, Canada and the prestigious Utrecht International Comedy Festival, Holland. His brand of clean humour has won over crowds in clubs, colleges and corporates alike.

Zakir Khan

Zakir Khan is one of the brightest comedians in the country, as proven by the massive success of his recent ‘Haq Se Single’ tour, and the Amazon Prime special of the same name. Zakir created waves in 2016 with his appearance on AIB Diwas, as he swiftly went on to become what AIB founder Tanmay Bhat describes as “The biggest stand-up comedy act in India. Period”. A writer by profession, this ‘Confused Desi’ serves his take on modern India, with a hard-to-resist style of humour that’ll have you nodding your heads and clapping as you’ll relate to everything he says. One of the few comedians to consistently sell out venues across the country with his hard-to-resist rustic humour, Zakir Khan’s phenomenal rise as one of the most popular comedians in the country is nothing short of extraordinary. Over the last year, he has sold 50,000 tickets with over 100 shows in clubs, colleges and arenas. Called a pioneer of storytelling in Indian comedy, his take on modern India will have you nodding and clapping repeatedly. One of the few comics to India to do stand-up almost entirely in Hindi, Zakir is indeed a unique act, and it’s easy to see why.

Sonali Thakker

Part-time stock-broker, a dance enthusiast and a full-time Gujju who performs comedy on the weekends, Sonali Thakker is an exciting new comedy talent in the town. Talking about grave topics like travelling, shopping and chaprigiri in her sets, Sonali’s has performed on the biggest of stages including Canvas Laugh Club and NCPA. She has also taken her special ‘Almost There’ to stage across the country.

Warren Viegas

Warren Viegas is a comedian, filmmaker and land mammal. He was briefly a contributor for HBO’s Emmy winning late night comedy show, ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’. When asked about his “contributions” he claims, “I got coffee for the guy that got coffee, for the guy that got coffee for John (Oliver), which is meaningless because he drank tea. Apart from being a professional human coffeemaker, I also worked as a editor for the show.” Warren has performed alongside some of the funniest names in the funny business all over the world!
